The fact is, it really is just as wonderful as it seems. Life is easy. Life is relaxing. People are carefree, healthy & full of enthusiasm. The place is absolutely stunningly beautiful, and everyone seems to realize this fact all of the time.

Our town is a truly special place. Just about everyone whose spent time here – be it passing through or spending a week – seems to have a visceral appreciation and unyielding gratitude for Santa Barbara.
I’m a long time resident. I’ve raised a family here, and I’ve built a career here. But what you might not know is that I originally hail from the great state of Texas. As much as I loved my childhood in the Lone Star State, Santa Barbara is and will always be home.
Some of us were lucky enough to land here. Others left town to see the world and now want to come home. Many dream about making the move to our beautiful community. Others are considering taking a new job in town.
If you’re thinking of heading this way, you probably already know that the move can be tricky. Much has been written about how expensive it is, and here on the West Coast we’ve come to accept that as part of living in picturesque, seaside towns with great weather.
Now when people find out that Santa Barbara is my primary residence, they respond with some combination of envy, longing, wistfulness, and nostalgia.

As different and perplexing as California real estate can be, Santa Barbara – with its diverse neighborhoods, architectural styles, natural boundaries, and history of preservation – is among the more challenging real estate markets.
Many of my clients are families and individuals preparing to relocate. As someone who understands what that process is really like, I thought it would be helpful to share the things I wished I’d known and been prepared for during our move to Santa Barbara and how you can prepare for a smooth transition.
